Tenants and Purpose
We promote the awareness and interest in the Eastern Box Turtle (Carolina Carolina Terrapene) and their conservation.
We encourage the study of North Carolina’s state reptile the Eastern Box Turtle.
We promote the helping of the Eastern Box Turtle safely to cross roadways.
We encourage political vigilance and activism in addition to education about the local and state laws and statues regarding the Eastern Box Turtle.
We promote the leaving of Box Turtles wild and not collecting them for pets.
We encourage education and the dissemination of scientific information through Carolina Box Turtles.
We believe in working to achieve a closer cooperation and understanding between amateur and professional herpetologist, as well as citizen scientists and scientists so that they may work together in the common cause of furthering science and the conservation of the Eastern Box Turtle.
We strive to enhance the education of the general public through community programs, workshops, and visits to schools and civic groups.
We promote the rescue of Eastern Box Turtles from neglectful and inhumane keepers and facilities.
We promote the charitable fostering of the Eastern Box Turtle when their owners can no longer keep them.
We promote the rehabilitation of sick and injured Eastern Box Turtles. Our aim is to be able to return them to the wild if possible.
